LOUISE
HARRIS

DSC02320.JPG

When I was ready to re-embark on my visual art journey, I was determined to make it as sustainable as possible. From second-hand shops and Facebook Marketplace, to sidewalk curbs and the trash room in my apartment building, I love scavenging materials wherever I can.

My first memory of creating art was making an instrument out of a stick, wire, and bottle caps– I firmly believe that art can and should be made with anything, and I continue to find inspiration in discarded and recyclable materials.

In 2021, I was diagnosed with a brain condition that took me out of my collegiate performing arts classes and threw me back into my canvases. I turned to painting to process my fears, alleviate my pain, and continue telling stories.
